Exclamation How do you stop programs from running in background?

Finally switched over from windows mobile TP2, and have the epic. So far I love it, BUT, everytime I hit advanced task killer, there is a long list of programs running, lowering my memory. How do I prevent these programs from running in the first place? When I shut them down via ATK, later on, I see there is another long list of programs up and running. In many cases, there are programs running that I did not even select to use.

The word on the street (or on these forums) is NOT to kill those programs. They are not killing your battery and using ATK only adds problems to the program and phone later on.

I dont suggest killing programs either...you can try a startup killer to prevent some of them from even launching..or if you rooted remove some of them to being with. (jut make sure they are safe to remove)

Re: How do you stop programs from running in background?

On WinMo which ran on the tp2 you had to constantly close programs or do a reset to have as much free memory as possible so it can run some what smooth but Android is build different there is no need for task killers really because even if you had 20 programs open you still would be able to multitask without any lag since android will automatically temporarily close any programs that are not being used in the moment but are still open so it can free up the memory it needs to run smooth when you use an advanced task killer it closes everything some times it closes things that need to be open so other things could run properly..... thats just what i know correct me if im wrong

also you dont need to install any third party task killers since the phone comes with a task manager that is easily accessible and closes all programs
