Question Re: EB13 to EC05 with Rooted CWM, no undoing!

hey gten iam kind of confuse.. ok as you know iam running EB13. stock ROM i had never used a costum ROM.. but i was looking in different post on XDA and they have this new 3.0.0.5/6 - UPDATED FOR EB13 wich i dont know if it the same or better then the regular 3.0. also it mentions something about Flash the Default Stock Dual FS kernel For EB13. so i dont know what do do here. if just install clockwork 3 by it self without the kernel or if i really need to Flash the Default Stock Dual FS kernel For EB13 or what ever that is.. i dont know anything about these kernels or what ever the difference is.. i only knolw the basic about rooting and maybe doing some flashing . but when it comes to flash other stuff besides the clockwork or other stuff i get kind of confuse..

you plan to flash a custom rom right? if you flash a custom rom with EXT4 it should include a kernel that supports EXT4...

The dual fs kernel is for people who plan to stick to using stock rom or stock kernel.

Question Re: EB13 to EC05 with Rooted CWM, no undoing!

ok so a custom ROM or i should say any custom comes already with its kernel inside the zip right? and the dual kernel that i just mentioned? so you are saying that if iam just going to stay on stock ROMS all i have to install is clockwork 3 then after the clockwork 3 its installed i have to flash the dual kernel as well ? using odin i asume... is that what you are saying?

yes, you can flash any kernel as long as it has ext4 support...like twilight kernel or etc...

As for roms, the roms dont have to have a kernel bundled...but as far as I am aware most roms do..just read the custom rom you plan to use and it will mention a kernel.

ok, kool i didn't know that is what the reboot recovery does...but glad it worked. i don't have the Asphalt demo on my phone.

I had actually bought Asphalt 5 from gameloft when i first got my epic, but when i went to EB13 I tried to reinstall it and it wouldn't work. gameloft sent me a copy that i downloaded. but it didnt work either. im gonna try again since i have EC05 now.

Question Re: EB13 to EC05 with Rooted CWM, no undoing!

any brilliant ideas in this issue? i had tryed just about everything to install this damn EC05 in a natural way. i went back to stock by using odin or the samsung EB13 200 MB setup. ok fully stock. now after install EB13 i waited for the OTA EC05 downlload so it aske me to resboot and install. ok i gets installed succesfully . now after i did those 2 things the last step is installyn clockwork 2.5. for some damn rrason when i install clockwork 2.5 i get some crap about busybox what ever that is.. next to busy box it says something about NOT ENOUGH SPACE ON DEVICE or some crap like that.. then just for hahas i went and reinstalled clockwork 2.5 ontop of of the one already installed and busybox doesnt give me any errors. the point is why do i have to installed clockwork twice? if one i was only on EB13 i only had to install clockwrk once and that was it.. iam about to smash this damn phone in a minute.. and i had trayed using oding to flash just the modem.tar that they posted on XDA. but when i flash just the modem using odin when my phone reboots after flashing modem. i go to settings / about phone and when i loook in the info only the BASEBAND says EC05 but the build at the very buttom says EB13. and i know for a fact both of thme have say EC05. and still get that update avaliable to update to EC05 even though i already updated the damn EC05 modem... thats why i dont like that idea of using odin to flash just the modem so i went trough all this crap about going to stock then install the OTA update then install the clockwork 2.5 but like i said it gave me this error NOT ENOUGH SPACE ON DEVICE on busybox while installing clockwork.. any ideas guys?

Have you tried instaling CW 2.5.5? what is going on is this..in EC05 rom they shrunk the available memory of the /system folder...this does not give it enough room to install everything...so the clockwork/root install should remove something such as Asphalt demo to make room for root/clockwork.

Re: EB13 to EC05 with Rooted CWM, no undoing!

I myself am wondering, I'm in the same boat , stock 2.2, I applied it from the samsung site. Rooted with what I believe was one click 2.5.5 however when looking at clockwork using the 3 finger method is shows 2.5.1
There is defiantly no asphalt demo there nor to I remember it being there after the update from 2.1 to 2.2. Could have been over excitement on my part for finally getting 2.2 IDK but I know that I don't want to have to start from scratch. After trying the ota and getting the yellow ! surrounding by a triangle i pressed back and clockwork came up, I rebooted it and it booted back to EB13, normally I wouldn't have an issue trying out different ways but this is my wife's phone and well I need a bed to sleep in if you catch my drift.. would applying the update.zip from sd work? Is there a safe way to remove root? She dosent need root as she dosent use it for anything except the quick reboot. She can do w/o it. thanks
