EB13 to EC05 with Rooted CWM, no undoing!

Hello all, as the title says I have "upgraded" to EC05 from EB13 and I didn't do the wipe data, revert to stock recovery, or anything like that. I was having problems with the update and followed several step by strps, that weren't working. Here is what I did that worked for me. Again, this worked for me and hopefully you as well.

1) download a good copy of the update.zip file.
- I used the one another post had with a megaupload link.
- here is the link I used: http://www.multiupload.com/B5RFCCYV71 (thank darren for reminding me to post it)

2) change the file name to "update.zip"
- I tried just chaging to "update", but that didn't work for me. CWM said the .zip couldn't be found or didn't exist.

3) move the update.zip to the root of the sdcard

4) boot into CWM recovery

5) select "reboot recovery" from the advance options
- for some reason this was what worked for me and enabled CWM to see and use the update.zip after multiple attempts.

6) select "apply update.zip from sdcard" once CWM restarts....viola, hopefully it works for you as well.

Please give a shot and let me know what happens.

well i didnt know i had to update from SD card. i just hited install and restart right from and the phone rebooted and it was stock on the samsumng white leters at boot. my phone wouldnt boot ... so after 10 minutes of me waiting to see if it will boot and still wouldnt boot.... so i got tired of waiting so i removed the battery turn it back on and still woudlnt boot. so i removed the battery again and just booted into the clockworck mode and choosed reboot syetem now... and after i did that it was the only was i was able to boot normal. i dont know if the actual EC05 was installed or not since i have no way of knowing. and i dont know if anyone else had the same problem of the phone not booting after hitting install and restart right from the phone.

menu/settings/about phone will tell you if your on EC05 or EB13

under build it says froyo EB13 so i asume it didnt update then. so in that case do i have to updgrade from SD card? if i want to upgrade that is.. now any ideas why it frozed on boost screen after hiting instal.reboot or is that something normal because i didnt use the SD card method??

i never herd of method posted here but if you want custom EC05 rom then just flash one and either use EB13 modem or odin EC05 modem after you flash custom rom. do you just run stock?

well what method you havent heard? and yes iam running stock since day one.. iam considering on running a costum ROM for the first time ever .. to be specific SyndicateROM Frozen... but iam currntly on clockwork 2.5 i dont know if for me to install clockwork 3.0 i have to revert my phone back to stock eclair using oding then reinstall EB13 using the 200 MB setup in order to install clockwork 3.0 or can i just install clockwork 3 over the top of 2.5?

latinlover I see you finally took the step to rooting and you didnt have any issues and you were able to return back to complete stock like i had mentioned to you in our convo on messenger over and over... LOL

You dont need to clear the cache 4times 3 is enough
now all you have to do is install CWM 3+ so you can install a custom rom

yes masetas i have been roooting for the past month and 1/2 now. when me and you talked on messsnger i was only wondering about the ROMS since that was the only thing i had never tryed before i talk to you. but i took some of your guide and some of my own to learn the hard way, and yes i finally learned the basic or the main thing on how to flash custom ROMS and how to retun back to stocks ROMS. i know clockwork 3.0 its made mainly for custom ROM using ext4 partitions. but i guess iam going to be using stock ROMS for the most part... so thats why iam back on CWM 2.5.5. since i had tryed some of the customs ROMS but i had some problems that it was making me force closing on a few settings or some apps... so thats why i decided to go back to stock. for now anyways. so thats why i created this tutorial on how to use stock ROM in this case EB13 and install the EC05 OTA the the last step was installing CWM 2.5.5 but as i mentioned the only error that i got when installing CMW 2.5.5 was busybox. but everything else like the root and CMW seems to be working ok.. so we will see what happens next..
