How do you disable Touchwiz after Froyo OTA update?

How do you disable Touchwiz after doing the OTA to Froyo?

I searched the forums and youtube before posting. The youtube tutorial shows options I don't have on my phone and could not duplicate the results.

I also have to setup the Epic to tether/hotspot without paying the BS fee.
I'm sure I am going to have to root the Epic and choose a ROM.
I have a lot of research to do to decide what way to go.

Please feel free to post advice to a Epic NEWB in here.

My Backround:
Just bought my Epic after being stuck with a Touch Pro 2 since 12/09
Can't believe I waited this long for the Epic that I've wanted since launch.

Re: How do you disable Touchwiz after Froyo OTA update?

All you need to get rid of Touchwiz is another launcher. Go to the market and install one. I use Launcher Pro and I love it. There is a free version and for a couple of bucks you can unlock the full version. Then the first time your phone tries to launch the home screen it will ask you which launcher to use. Check the "Always use this one" block and then click on Launcher Pro. And there you go.....no more Touchwiz.

On the new OTA I hear Sprint ID can actually remove TouchWiz to stock launcher...(if you don't plan to install custom rom/root)

Re: How do you disable Touchwiz after Froyo OTA update?

on my phone, (stock froyo) from the homescreen you can go to menu> settings> aplications from there you have to choose from 3rd party, running or "all". choose all. wait for it to laod the full list. when it does scroll all the way down to "TwLauncher" and select it. find "launch by default" and hit the clear button. the next time you start the phone it will give you the option to use stock android launcher. just set it as the new default when you select it.

Has anyone had luck doing this? When I try to set "launcher" as default, it says configuring device and then starts twlauncher.

Just flash the Midnight Rom v5.0 and v.5.1. This will remove touch wiz as your launcher and then you can install the wifi tether on my signature line.
