Not Getting Voice Command to Work

I have midNIGHT ROM 5.2 Everything seems to work great except I cannot get the Voice Command to to work (i.e. pressing button on BT earpiece and being able to say " Call John Smith" and have it call that person from your contacts without having to look at the phone). It worked once when I flashed midNIGHT ROM 3.5, but not 4.2, and not 5.2 even though I would think it would with all the development that has been done. Any suggestions?

I tried Vlingo, but its voice recognition was real bad and I still needed to look at the phone too much. Is Voice search the same thing? It searches the web before it looks at my contacts. That really sucks.
