Re: epic shutting off
My epic was also shutting off when I closed the keyboard. I thought I had a bad kb so decided to take it to the sprint store for replacement. To prepare the phone for return I replaced the 3500 battery I bought on Ebay with the samsung battery. I then noticed that the phone had stopped shutting off. Apparently the Ebay battery did not have a snug fit when placed in the phone so everytime I close the kb it moved away from the phone's battery contacts. This may be your problem. Are you using the battery that came with the phone?
