Kernel compatible with "CPU tuner" (market app)?

I've been playing around with a market app called "CPU tuner" (for rooted phones only) which is similar to SetCPU, but free, without messing with APKs.

The app has a diagnostic portion which tests the phone to make sure that it has all the access it needs to function fully. When I run it, it reports that it cannot set the minimum or maximum CPU frequencies. As far as I know, this is because those functions are either restricted by the current (stock Eclair 2.1) kernel, or possibly the code is just not there.

If my phone is already rooted, is it possible to load a kernel that does allow these functions? If so, I'd appreciate a link to such a kernel, as I'm a virtual noob when it comes to this. I can however follow directions and understand concepts.

Thanks..

Thanks gTen.. I somehow did not see those in the upgrade forum, must be having a DUH moment.. Though it could be the fact that I'm in pain and popping narcotic pills like candy.

As I said, overclocks will happen one of 2 ways:

1) We get official 2.2.1 launch and Samsung releases source code (usually same day or a day or 2)

2) We get a kernel written from completely from source (similar to what CyanogenMod will have)
