Re: Official Android 2.2 (Froyo) update emerges for Sprint's Epic 4G

I've noticed a lot of lag and slowness with DI28 while navigating through my programs that I didn't have with DI18. The only thing that seems faster is TW. Anyone else notice this? Also, Facebook app seems buggy, it keeps closing on me.

And this new Youtube sucks! I can't even find a way to share links through text. I'm considering going back to 2.1.

its dk28 and you need a custom dk28 build to see it fly

Also if you're rooted then you can use nan droid back up... But only restore data and you have all your data and apk in your new rom

I'm so glad I didn't flash this yet... We have an issue here?

I was trying to flash via clock work and it failed saying it was bad. Might have been a bad download but what else is new about this rom aside from dj29?

Don't forget that you have to flash the DK28 modem with Odin before you flash the ROM or it won't work. Also, be careful using Clockwork to restore data on this ROM if your data was backed up with anything earlier than DK28. You'll get a bunch of weird errors. I had to use Titanium to restore all my apps/data.

BTW Darren, what do you have against Titanium Backup? I use it all the time and its never failed me.

EDIT: Oh yeah, battery life seems much better with DK28, especially with Viper 3.0

Where is this dk28 modem? I can't get to the tar ball almost all the links are dead in the xda forum. Its pitiful being me yeah I know.

And titanium back up didn't work for me when I tried to restore all my apps and data back to a rooted stock rom which it took backup from. That's why I hated it... it really screwed me up with data lost at the time of learning how to root the epic.

Edit:
When I restore with Nandroid backup... I don't restore everything...just data. What I mean by that is apks and data with nandroid and I've been doing that for at least 3 different stock roms using the same backup/restore methods with no issues. Probably not an issue if you're flashing a non custom rom. Every phone is different but this one works for me.

I hardly got a fc on any of the roms I flashed into...

MyBackupPro does really well backing up for me and I can choose which apps to install with this one. But damn it take forever to backup compared to nandroid. No root required.

Nandroid is like 5mins or less. The caveat with this method is you can't selectively choose like on MyBackUp pro which apps or data to install with this one. I like to make sure I delete and install apps before rebooting into clockwork then making a backup which is pretty much managable, plus it's free.

Next, if I flash into a custom rom... you go to backup/restore >>Advance >>choose your backup>>> only restore data, not system, or whatever else is on that list.

If you restore everything that's how u got a bunch of errors or fc like you did.

Re: Official Android 2.2 (Froyo) update emerges for Sprint's Epic 4G

I didn't read all nine pages, but if ur having erros using the update.zip file, it doesn't work to just reinstall the stock .apk files. You have to put a copy of the .apk file in the /system/app folder.
