Official Android 2.2 (Froyo) update emerges for Sprint's Epic 4G

By Darren Murph http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.en...writer_rss.gif posted Dec 4th 2010 at 9:01PM

Samsung may have missed its promised September (and November) ship dates for Froyo on the Galaxy S range, but at this point, we're just pleased to see any progress at all. Sprint's Epic 4G has just become the first US Galaxy S phone to nab an official Android 2.2 (v2.2.1, in fact) build, with the requisite files populating Google's servers this evening. If you'll recall, a near-final build actually leaked out around three weeks ago, but the DK28 version making the rounds at xda-developers looks to be the real deal. Head on over to get your update going, and be sure to let us know how everything turns out in comments below.

Is anyone having media hub problems. I click on the icon, it says I have a mandatory update to continue, click continue on that, market opens up and says it can't find it. I can't use media hub.anyone else with this issue?

it's possible that the reason is because we have the 2.2 version before Samsung got the update loaded up to the market. We did get this OTA through a 'leak' of sorts..

the version that comes in this rom is the samethat came in 2.1, and the same update process for media hub happened on 2.1 as well with no issues. why didn't they just have the newer version in this rom.

You can try this:

-==UPDATED_MEDIAHUB_for_FROYO_LEAK==- - xda-developers

make sure you have a backup of your rom before trying anything though!

--------------------------------------------------------

So far I see a huge improvement on speed, stability and I also notice 4g signal is a lot stronger..before I was ony able to get 4g signal in 2-3 places in my house..now I can get 4g signal anywhere in my house..of course its more flake in some places more then others..but still a huge improvement...

so far only issue I notice that remained is the checker boarding one in the browser..so far..

I have DI18 installed. I even tried removing sprintzone.apk and running it and I still get the same assert fail. does anyone have the stock DI18 sprint apps? I remember having to reinstall from a .zip that someone else had to upgrade from the first upgrade.
