Poor battery life with Froyo-might go back to Eclair

I really like Froyo, but the battery life just sucks so I am considering going back to Eclair until Froyo is officially released and we get some custom kernels. Has anyone come up with any solutions to the battery issue with the Froyo leaks? This was the most discussed topic in this forum when the Epic first came out until we started getting custom kernels and the cooks fixed it. But who knows when that will be with Froyo.

Also, if I do a backup in Clockwork on a 2.2 ROM, can I use it to restore data in 2.1?

Re: Poor battery life with Froyo-might go back to Eclair

I'm only getting about 8 hours a day. I'm not really doing anything special with the settings. I am running the Viper Rom v2.6 and I pretty much left everything the way it came. I've never been worried about display settings because the battery drains just as fast while its in my pocket. I suppose I could turn off the sync features, but that sort of defeats the purpose of having a smartphone. I had the same battery issues with the stock 2.1 and once the cooked kernels came out it got WAAAAAY better.

this battery frustrates me. I get 12 hours yesterday with average use but today I was at 64 after an hour & a half with average use. yesterday I was in an area with horrible signal most of the day n the opposite today. that's y when I'm going somewhere with no place to get juice I bring a spare battery

Re: Poor battery life with Froyo-might go back to Eclair

I'm on eclair still, but like I have posted, the Epic 4G battery is WILDLY inconsistent to say the least. This morning without using it, I went down 30% from 7:22am to 8:45am... in the "about" it said 51% of that was the display that I had basically turned off.

Although I agree that the battery life on the Epic is extremely inconsistent, I have had much better battery life on DK17 and DK28 (Quantum ROM to be exact) than I did on any of the Eclair ROMs

I'm running a USB cable from my laptop to my Epic 4G with the best success for increased battery life.
