+1 LOL

Until Samsung releases the source code and we get some custom kernels cooked up, that just might be the best answer!

Re: Poor battery life with Froyo-might go back to Eclair

I've only had the Epic since this past Saturday and ran the DK28 update on Sunday, the day it leaked. I'm on the leaked pre-official DK28 and the battery life is horrendous. With pretty typical usage, the battery is toast by 3:30 in the afternoon (I take the phone off the charger at about 6:30AM).

Is the battery life really this pathetic or would the phone make it thru the day if I was on the stock ROM? I didn't really have the 'hands-on' before moving to froyo.

Any suggestions as to which ROM to return to. DG27, DI18, etc?

thanks

Re: Poor battery life with Froyo-might go back to Eclair

There are some great roms out there on 2.1 that will give you excellent battery life, but that's because they have custom kernels. As soon as we get the source code for 2.2 we will have those for Froyo as well. Patience Grasshopper. It shouldn't be long now. If you want to go back to 2.1 I suggest the Epic Experience roms. I got 20+ hours on that one.

Re: Poor battery life with Froyo-might go back to Eclair

Fully stock, I got about 6-8 hours on a charge. After disabling the DRM service (and doing nothing else - no custom ROMs or kernels), my battery life went up to 20-30 hours.

Now I'm on DK28, and killing off the DRM service seems to have no effect. I'm only getting about 8-12 hours. WTF?

EDIT: I just figured it out. OmaDrmConfigService actually seems OK now. It appears whatever crappy code causes the sleep problems has been moved to the Media Hub service (can't remember the exact name). I stopped that service, and after seeing my battery life go back up and no problems occur, I nuked the Media Hub app from my phone completely. It's all good now!

Re: Poor battery life with Froyo-might go back to Eclair

The midNIGHT ROM has a tweaked kernel that has really improved battery life for Froyo. Its still DK28, but now I am getting 16+ hours with normal usage. Not as good as the 2.1 ROMs, but we're getting there. I think I'll stay with Froyo.
