How well are the methods of backup/restore
I need to let the word out!
Backup/restore apps I've used... Covered in this post I'm talking about restoration of your backed up files and how well it does it. Nandroid using advance restore in clockwork I restored /data and /sd-ext. The outcome: pretty good... everything including my wallpaper and homescreen icons are all in the same place... Apps are there except some apps noticeably gameloft apps or 3rd party apps have to be reinstalled for it to work or you will get a FC. The downsides of the restore is it doesn't restore your data... ex (game saves, or face book credentials, etc) if you do a full restore it will work only on the same rom that you're using otherwise you will suffer a boot loop or a brick. for example if you backed up everything from a Froyo rom and then flash back to stock and restore then it will not work. Instead you can restore /data/ and /sd-ext Titanium- The outcome: shitty app the whole time I was backing up roms and apk's with data.. actually though it worked but by time I actually started flashing roms even back to stock roms to restore them the back up DIDN'T WORK. this app is only good for removal of stock apps if you need it. other than that.. f*ck you Titanium. if you just need to remove or back up stock apps you can use sdx stock app removal tool (it's Free) and uninstall Titanium if you want to. My Backup Pro- The outcome: it actually backs up everything.. I recommend doing this before or after you do nandroid backup. Very useful if you want to back up apps and it's data including game saves and credentials. the restore works like a charm.. the only thing it will NOT back up for so far in my findings for some reason is Es File explorer... so why not? I don't know... could be a file restriction maybe..? What will happen is it backs up everything in numeral alphabetical order by the time it reaches Es File explorer it stalls. Then you'll have to do it again if you remember to UN check Es File explorer. Anyway. Another reason for creating this thread is because I didn't see a method for restoring stock apps for example my calendar is FC on me... so removing it with sdx stock app removal tool the FC stops.. restoring it the FC happens. maybe the file is corrupted and you need to restore it...? but how? I'm getting my stock apps from here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7523892/Apps.zip I completely removed the app first then when trying to reinstall the apk it didn't work. anybody knows how to restore: touchwizcalendar touchwizcalendar provider ? Re: How well are the methods of backup/restore
For titanium to work the best you need to install the Busy Box that comes with it by hitting Problems? then it backs up correctly...I dont use it for backing up apps much but its good for backing up app data..never failed me once...(assuming busy box is installed)
