Microsoft and Apple have several thousand people in their employ slaving away behind closed doors, each trying to outdo the other without actually knowing what the other is doing until they release something every 12-16 months (don't even get me started on corporate espionage). Its like playing tag while wearing blindfolds. Google has the entire population of the world working on their software, improving it every day and sharing their data with each other...and they are doing it FOR FREE!!! They are not doing it because they are getting paid. They do it because the love it. And sites like this, XDA and SDX are leading the way to an operating system that has, in 2 short years, blown away the competition that has been at this for more than a decade.

Well Google is making money off it..app store aside, the more people have access to the internet in more ways, the more money Google makes.

I never said they were doing it for purely philanthropic reasons. Of course they are doing this to make money. My point was simply HOW they are doing it, and how we are all benefiting from it.

awesome.... outside of a couple of bluetooth issues this phone has totally blown my mind. My new favorite thing that I just learned the other day is to hold the search key to get the voice command prompt and then say 'navigate' + an address. If I speak clearly it gets it every time. Unfortunately voice commands don't seem to work through my bt device.
