Re: 3G upload speed not exceeding 150k

I don't have my MSL/SPC code to check and see for sure on my device, but I read somewhere (can't remember where as I've been doing alot of reading) that the Epics are on EVDO Rev 0. They SHOULD be on Rev A but they're connecting at Rev 0 speeds (hence the 150k upstream limit.

Apparently Samsung is suppose to release yet another maintenance fix that will repair this 'whoops'.

I'll try to find a link for my source.

IF you guys have your MSL/SPC, check in the PST settings, or ##3282# menu and see if this is the case.

EDIT: fount the thread I was looking for. Samsung Epic Stuck in EVDO Rel 0 - Upload cap possibly explained

Hope this helps

One problem with the Rev 0 theory...the download is way above Rev 0..and limitation of Rev 0 in terms of upload even with burst is 144kbps...if people are getting 150..thats over practical possibility

Nope, they are on Rev A. Actually, I've not been able to get my Epic to drop down to Rev 0. or 1xrtt. Either way, that is not the problem.

Cheers for trying though.

Re: 3G upload speed not exceeding 150k

Darren's got to lay off the crack pipe.

Being serious, there have been random reports of 170k, 190k, ... but nothing sustainable and nothing similar to every other 3G phone out there. If anyone gets hung up over the "150k" part of the thread title, we can change it to something more palatable like "Slow 3G upload speed" or "3G upload speed seems limited" or we could put it to a vote My experience while carefully observing the phone in action is that there is something that seems to throttle the upload speed to average 150k. There will be spikes that go over 150k, but it's like there is something in the phone that notices that and chops it down.
