Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

Anyone here know if all the features will work i.e. sms, mms, data etc when this phone is connected on boostmobile. Or will we have to do some type of configuration like on the Sprint TP2.

I know that maybe i wont be able to access 4g connection when connected to boostmobile but where i live there is no 4g connection so that doesnt matter.

Please no one state that it is not possible to connect a Sprint phone on boost mobile. Also before someone states that boostmobile is only IDEN verify that because boostmobile also has CDMA which works on Sprints network. I know for a fact because i have a Sprint Tp2 on Boostmobile with everything working as it should.

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

The problem with boost mobile is not the CDMA portion...to get the TP2 working you transfer it from the Sprint ESN DB to the Boost Mobile ESN DB...

The problem is so far only phones that are legacy plans compatible have been ported. Example, I have not heard of an EVO being ported to Boost. The TP2 works on legacy plans thus making it possible to be ported.

The only other brand that is rumored to get the phone is the Clear brand.

sorry, I wish it were possible too :(

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

Wont we just be able to call boost C.S. and give them a sorry excuse why our old phone doesnt work and that we got a new one if they can transfer the account to that one give them the esn and act dumb and say we dont know what type of phone it actually is and when C.S. ask us if its a sprint phone we say "NO" its boost its just some red phone. and wait to see if their system gets it.

What is the legacy plans? is that what the boost unlimited plans are called?

gTen 06-30-2010 06:18 PM

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

Sprint at one point made the "Everything Plans" and required all new phones to be on these plans, all the plans before that are called "legacy plans"..to get people to switch over to these more expensive plans, they limited the usable devices.

Boost is equivalent to a legacy plan...even if the CS wanted to they couldn't do it..it would tell them this phone is incompatible with this plan.

It is hard locked by the system...

masetas 06-30-2010 06:48 PM

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

What your saying is that when i give the ESN # their system is gonna reject it because the ESN# is gonna be linked some how to the Everything plan?

well hopefully someone will be able to go around the Hard locked system as soon as it is released. By the way any stated release date for it and anyone know how much its gonna cost.

Also ive seen that you have to pay for the 4g access 10 additional dollars but what if there isnt any 4g access where i live.

The only way around it is not legal...if people were able to get around legally it they would have done a year ago when this was introduced.

As for price, guess is 200$-250$

Release date is "somewhere in the summer"..There is a thread on releases..we at least know it won't be till july 11th but can be as late as september..But maybe they will do it in July as they are taking shots at the iPhone with this phones in their documents.

The $10 is there no matter what..its a "cool tax" as many call it...

masetas 06-30-2010 07:30 PM

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

So how much does the everything plan cost including the "COOL TAX" a month

gTen 06-30-2010 08:26 PM

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

79.99$ a month...but you can get things like EDRP it will be 69.99$ or you can get things like 27% off the 79.99$ rate...

others were able to get $10 credit extra to cover the "cool tax"

Also for family plans, you gotta pay $10 extra per line.

masetas 06-30-2010 09:48 PM

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

What is EDRP and how do i get it. How can i get 27% of the 79.99 rate.

gTen 06-30-2010 10:57 PM

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

EDRP (you can find the stuff needed to get through if you google for it)

Harder or not..the ability to add Epic is fairly recent so not many know about the exact details yet...best I can offer is try to Google for it and other Android devices on Boost to see if they have similar issues with a solution.

Yes its possible now, it just wasn't possible before. It was not a programming thing..it was ESN limitation which was lifted recently.

Seems like I jumped the gun, I guess since oct 1st there just has been a lot of confusion with the changes..so far there is no legal way to get Evo or Epic on boost.

Curious how much you paid for the Epic active on Boost ?

The TP2 can be done legally and very easily FWIW.

Typically, in order to put a device on Boost that's not allowed or approved (the samsung moment for example..) it requires taking some information off of a 'donor phone'.. then, putting this information onto the 'non-approved/allowed' phone. The last step is changing the ESN on the non-allowed phone so that it is the same as the donor phone. Afterwards, the carrier 'sees' the donor phone on their network instead of the 'actual' phone.

I'm not going into any more detail than what I have already due to the forum rules. This is vague enough to be allowed, but any more specific could get me in hot water. I think you can follow what's happened here.

The TP2 is easy and 'allowed' although not approved. To put a TP2 on boost, you first activate your account w/ an approved (real boost) device, then you call customer service and tell them you'd like to do a device swap on your account. They ask for the new MEID, you give them the MEID of the TP2 and they activate it. No illegal or shady antics.

Hope this helps

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

I think I understand....Your saying that putting the tp2 on boost is not illegal because you can do it on the phone with a rep by not letting them know its a tp2. even though your are switching account info from another phone. But because you cannot connect a epic to boost on the phone with a rep its illegal....something sounds wrong...so its ok to let them switch numbers and thats legal but if you do it its illegal...uhh

'allowed' although not approved.......?

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

In case of the TP2 you are putting it on without them knowing but in worse case your jsut tricking them..when you change an ESN on a phone or in possession of one your breaking federal and state laws.

tspass 10-07-2010 01:36 PM

Re: Sprint Epic 4g on Boost Mobile

Understood...so you can trick but you can't treat.....lol....I'm done this case is closed in my book...

The Epic is a sprint exclusive device just like the palm pre. No exclusive devices are allowed on Boost. Further, no android devices are allowed on boost.

There is a way to get the Epic on boost, similar to the way in which I had a samsung moment and an HTC hero on boost. The methods for doing so cannot be discussed here though due to forum rules. Suffice it to say that it's not the most 'legal' thing to do ;)

Where there is a will, there will always be a way.. heh..

cdma gurus are really good at doing the type of thing you're suggesting.

(spoken in 'code' here.. hopefully you'll get the hint as I do not want to get a warning or be banned for breaking the TOS)

There is not a guide for doing what you're suggesting. There is information available though. One can piece the information together enough to get the job done.

Hope this helps

Per forum rules, we are not allowed to discuss things of this nature.

I can tell you (safely) that the tools that you're using, you're using incorrectly.

AND, you may need more tools.
