* noobnl for his Andromeda Galaxy Kernel
* crake001 for the battery percentage mod
* bubby323 for the Vanilla Lockscreen
* phantomevo77 for being my dedicated guinea pig & tester.

Special Notes

* Do NOT remove TouchWiz Launcher from this ROM, doing so will cause contact syncing issues & "acore" force closes
* Any kernel should work with this ROM other than stock.

Re: [ROM] Epic Experience - Version 1.2.02 [10/18]

please pm me if i miss a update but im pretty good with keeping up. hope this helps you guys. im gonna start off with battery calibrate i do with flashing every kernel. kenels posted in no order and my results are this rom (experience) xxxxx kernel, here we go:

CALIBRATE YOUR BATTERY!!! This kernel is very different from stock, you may get poor battery life if you're switching to Phoenix from stock. To do so: After flashing Phoenix, charge to 100%. Go into Clockwork Recovery, go to Advanced, and hit Wipe Battery Stats. Reboot, then fully drain the battery 100% -> 0%. Charge it back up to 100% while turned on, and you should be calibrated.

[KERNEL] Phoenix v1.49 (10/27/2010) just got updated so havent used it but good results with his stuff.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811030

2) [KERNEL] [GPL] MixUp - Overclock/Undervolt (10/24/2010 - D'OH'ETH!) new to me but also good/great results.
Changelog:
MixUp-20101024-847 -- Released 10/24/2010 8:47PM CST:

* Switched back to conservative scheduler by default. Interactive is still there, but not default. It'll get set to default when someone fixes interactive.
* Patched up to 2.6.29.6 (thanks @Nullghost)
* Various scheduler tweaks, backported from newer versions
* New BusyBox version
* Back camera tweaks, sharpness & saturation upped a notch. I think its better, but if you disagree then take them down a notch in camera settings.
* Front cam tweaks. Samsung -- People != blobbish vampires. Sharpness & color upped. No more pale blobs of Play-Doh.
* RNDIS! Finally! DevinXTreme got this one goin.
* Speaking of Devin, this is now a collab between him & I, with some (credited) kanging from @Nullghost
* Optical sensor tweaks. I know, I know, they keep coming. It's good, I promise. I think I FINALLY fixed it.
* IMPORTANT! Calibrate your battery after flashing this kernel, else it will decrease! To calibrate, charge your phone all the way (or insert a full battery), wipe battery stats in Clockwork, let it drain to ZERO, plug it in and charge to FULL! Do NOT put in a full battery after the discharge. Your battery should really improve after this.

Changelog:
MixUp-20101110-1036 -- Released 11/10/2010 10:37PM CST:

* Added Smartass governor. Still beta. Not default, but available. Similar to interactive, but more responsive & better battery supposedly. Thanks to a dev in the Hero forums whose name I can't remember.
* CIFS support
* VooDoo Sound support. Still beta.
* 1.3Ghz & 1.6Ghz OC!
* Light & CPU tweaks from Devin
* Several more small tweaks I can't remember
* This version is beta! I have NOT tested this one at all! I'm running FroYo atm, and I can't test this kernel since it isn't .32. Let me know of any (probably a few) bugs.

He leaves the kernel up to you. You can flash the ROM with no updated kernel and it will work with the stock kernel. You can use any kernel out there. Just flash whatever kernel you want with clockwork recovery, easy and simple.

My personal experience was to use odin to go back to stock di18 then after you have that installed go ahead and do 1 click root.

When root is done do the clockwork then install the kernal then the rom then the theme.

Of course this is only the way I done it. It doesn't mean it has to be done in that exact order. Good luck with it either way.

Be careful with one click rooting. Do not use JoeyKrim's one click root as it tends to cause problems. Noobnl has a decent one click rooting that works pretty well.

if your using stock kernel then none of this is needed, rom has no kernel. very odd that you do all this for anything imo, wipe twice/wipe delvic/flash

That would be the one I am using.

I wasn't using stock kernal. I tried a phoenix kernal or something at one time so that's why i used odin to go back to stock in the first place.

I used Mixup to get the overclock kernal since I didn't want to keep the stock kernal.

So there is a reason I did all of this to begin with. Trust me I am not doing it all for nothing lol. I have had problems flashing another kernal over another before so I always go back to stock before installing another kernal, but to install a kernal it is easiest to install it through clockwork for me. So each of those steps were to my "peronal" needs. Alot of people might not have to go through all of em like i did if they are on stock to begin with.

I am currently running Baked Snack 1.3 Hero_Over Rom** which uses Hypnotic2010's custom kernel. Will that kernel work on this ROM or do I need to flash the stock DI18 kernel before flashing this ROM?

I know it doesn't have a kernel, but I got the impression from some of the other posts that certain kernels don't work as well with this ROM as others. That's why I was curious if anyone know if the kernel in the baked_snack ROM causes any problems with this ROM or if I should flash the stock DI18 kernel. I'm just going to make a backup and flash this and see what happens.

I apologize if I keep asking n00bish questions, but I just want to make sure I know what I am doing before I do it. The xda thread about the Experience ROM says that the Phoenix kernel gives the best battery life. So to flash this ROM and the Phoenix kernel first I need to flash the kernel in CWM and then flash the new ROM? Or is it the other way around?

Looks good. I'm mainly concerned with performance. I like the baked snack rom so far but I want to experiment with some others. How would the Voodoo kernel work better than/different from the Phoenix kernel?

Tried both with this ROM, I personally have had a better experience (no pun intended) with the Voodoo kernal...seems to get better battery life.

It seems to me that we had this discussion a couple of months ago:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/samsung-ga...structure.html

Maybe we should reconsider separating the upgrades section into 2 sub sections - one for Themes & Mods and another for ROMs and kernels.

Re: [ROM] Epic Experience - Version 1.2.04 [10/26]

maybe its me but i see people having issues with steps to take when flashing and this helped me and may help some other wm flashers that are now android flashers. thanx to bubby323 from xda.

How to Flash

1. Make sure you have ClockWork recovery installed.

2. Backup your current ROM. (to recover data and files)

- To do this simply go into Clockwork recovery and scroll down to Backup & Restore, select Backup then your current data and setup will be backed up.

3. Download any rom of your choice and put it on the root of your SD card.

4. Factory/Data reset, don't worry you'll be able to get your data back.

5. Choose "Install zip from sd card."

6. Find the appropriate ROM you chose in the list, press the camera button and install the ROM.

7. Reboot.

8. Wait for the ROM to reboot into the lockscreen.

9. Success!

10. Go back into clockwork.

11. Backup and Restore.

12. Advanced Restore.

13. Choose your backup you made before flashing AOSP Magic.

14. Choose restore data.

15. Wait for Clockwork to restore your data and files.

16. Reboot.

17. Enjoy

I was discussing this in another thread here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/sprint-epi...rrent-rom.html

It was jumping around a lot so I took everything from that thread, summarized it and put it in the wiki
