HTC Hero found with COX branding

US cable company Cox was caught with its branding on an HTC-made Android device that is identical to the US-based Sprint HTC Hero. According to the report, the Cox-branded device was able to browse the net only at 1xRTT and not able to utilize the faster CDMA 3G protocol of EV-DO or EV-DO Rev. A.

Cox is standing out as the sole major cable company that's entering the USA mobile telephony business with an LTE 4G plan--the cable company's competitors have inked deals with Clearwire to utilize WiMax in the USA for 4G network deployments. Cox has also committed itself to CDMA technologies for 3G deployment.
