The largest city to me is New Orleans but even that city is 60 miles away they don't have 4g yet anyway. In comparo to the entire U.S. very very few places still have 4g yet, I just can't see the masses paying for the additional 4g service just because the phone can provide it but only 1/8 of Sprint subscribers can actually use it???
I've seen it first hand and not just in cell phone providers. I mean search the forums and see how many SERO people wont or cant get a HERO because of "anything data". Then look close and you'll see a few people that argued until they got a rep that would switch it for them. The users here at PPCGEEKS are not the norm when it comes to average customers with the various carriers. I've told several co-workers about an employee discount we can get through Sprint and they WILL NOT call to get something free. Todays consumers are taken advantage of on many levels and 99% of the time it is their own apathy that hurts them.

It has been brought to my attention that the HERO was no a proven example of a phone added to SERO my mistake.

There have been people on SERO able to use it with a HERO phone? News to me.

No one was able to get a HERO on SERO as far as I know..what they did was block ESN so even if the agent wanted to they could not activate it. There were a few who were able to get a Samsung Moment on SERO but then sprint contacted them that they have to swap plans or return the phone.

Thank-you for the correction if that is the case. I used the Hero as an example of one of Sprints newer phones. I have seen people denied the Touch pro 2 on SERO by one rep but after arguing getting it on. I hadn't seen where they had gone to those lengths to keep the HERO off of SERO. It boils down to unlimited internet with SERO is the same internet you get with "anything data" and its the carriers way of forcing you off of a very inexpensive plan and to another one.

Re: Sprint HTC Evo 4G

The N1 is fantastic. I'm probably going to get the HD2 as it's the last of a dying breed and the HD video doesn't entice me THAT much as I don't really take a lot of videos with my phone. HD to me is 1080p. It's a nice perk but Sprint as usual is a little late. I don't see why I'd wait another 4-5 months (knowing Sprint) for a video out feature I might never use. MAYBE if Boston gets 4G by the summer (probably not) I could wait for this phone. But with the HD2 enticing me more and more every da...and having already experienced the Nexus one, HD video seems like a minor add on to me. I do not want to downplay this though, but as I said, I think it's a little late. Maybe if they announced a release of next week lol, but not much longer, because god knows what we'll see by the END of next summer. I'd personally rather grab the very last great WM6.5 phone, than wait for another android 2.1.

I can't really hate on the EVO at ALL though. With some of the new features like "Leap" the UI does promise to be different from the usual 2.1 UI. Looks like Sprint is finally rolling out what their entire image and business model promises. We can hope that these phones can reach beyond just a niche market and become a cash cow for wireless carriers. With the HD2 being priced as low as $149.99 in stores I can't imagine the EVO being too expensive when it comes out. $149.99-$179.99 sounds right to me. But time will tell. It pays to be a sprint premiere customer right now I'll tell you that.

Re: Sprint HTC Evo 4G

A couple of the latest rumors about our favorite superphone:

When will it be released? possibly in late May. which would be great timing to get some iphone users away from ATT

http://mobileblab.com/htc-evo-to-be-released-late-may/

Will there be an additional charge for 4G? in Hesse's Keynote speech, he mentions offering 4G for no additional charge.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/24/l...ith-dan-hesse/

I also saw a chat with a sprint Rep saying that the EVO will be available for everything data plans, but couldnt find it to add a link for it. All of this is purely speculative, but nothing like a couple rumors to add a little excitement to your day.

Yeh there was a lot of misconceptions..many reps thought that SERO could not have any type of PDA/smartphones..at first sprint at the time named specific phones like Palm Pre, Instinct, Hero..but then decided to make it OS based..so Web OS, Instinct brands, and Android is a no no for SERO. They completely blocked off the ESN in their system...so its not like Android doesn't work, Sprint's system just won't accept the ESN for SERO.

That is why the hope is the N1 may be able to get "around" it because Google would do the activations...odds are against it but there is a possibility.
