Re: Expanding PPCGeeks' Horizons
I know there are concerns about this, so to compromise I made it take up less space on the forum listings. There now 1 forum under Off Topic and the OSes are listed as subforums.
So instead of taking up 5 forum spaces, it just takes up 1 now. Like I said before, we'll give it a little time and see what happens. |

Re: Expanding PPCGeeks' Horizons
Yea im not to happy with this change either... I like the fact that its all about the phones we all use but now its going to bring a whole lot of different people here and its not going to be a specialty site anymore.... :(

So I don't mind them, but Palm....to much of a stretch (I'm sorry I don't agree and as many others don't. We are just looking out for the best for the site.) Take it with a grain for salt, tequila and slice of lime Mindfrost Thanks, Korey |

Re: Expanding PPCGeeks' Horizons
I being a non-HTC Windows Mobile user likes this change. Mainly because XDA does the exact opposite even excluding Windows Mobile users who don't use HTC Devices. That is wrong. Welcome all and everyone :). The only thing people must have is a smartphone though.

Re: Expanding PPCGeeks' Horizons
Not too sure how I feel about this. My first reaction was that I don't like it. This site is part of my daily life...I'm here every day checking it. And to be quite honest, sometimes load speeds and downloads can take a bit. One well known chef releases a new rom...and the site goes down for an hour or so. I dont like the fact that this could cause more traffic that might affect the site.
However, I am not against others using the site for their own phones, as long as this site remains a primarily Windows Mobile community. I dont want to see tons of LG users or some other crap show up and then the site starts to gear itself more towards them. PPCGeeks is a Windows Mobile support/fan site...and should always remain that way. One of the reasons I don't like XDA is because their site is so damn cluttered. In all reality though...it probably won't make much difference. Like when XDA created a CDMA Touch Pro forum...I think last time I checked there were like less than 1000 posts total in that forum....because all us CDMA users are over here. Same thing with PPCGeeks creating a GSM forum....its usually dead because they are all over at XDA. When sites become known for the base/core content they offer..they always remain popular for that, and not for the content they add after that. Sometimes, it even hurts them (ie - MySpace became popular for its social networking features...then they added all the flashy backgrounds, annoying applications, music, etc....now Facebook has overtaken it simply because they stuck to the basics.) So while I see no reason for this change (let Palm people go to palm websites)...I really don't think this will make much difference. HOWEVER....if I see one Iphone person come into the TP/winmo forums and say ANYTHING in comparison to that piece of crap device..I swear to god...I will have a fit of rage! |
Re: Expanding PPCGeeks' Horizons
i'm concerned about attracting too much 'i'ttention here, clearly google is our friend but i'm afraid that keyword will bring bad apples.. see my spam report.
at least there's a spiffy home for the topic i guess. |

I don't think this is going to be an issue. The vast majority of people here are still going to be WM, so we will continue business like always!
