Well it depends on the cpu of the machine....
On my Quad Core i7 desktop it keeps a single core operating at 50%, with no noticable slowness.
On my Core Duo laptop it noticeably slows things down and probably chews up the battery.

The script is updating the screen every 25ms, that's really overkill at 40fps.
10fps or 100ms would be sufficient and place much less load on the cpu.

I have Core Duo on my laptop w/ Windows 7, 2.20GHz Processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM. I don't notice any abbreviation from the norm.

Ay, that might be the reason why I don't have any issues....

Core2Quad - 2.67 each
8GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5800

Re: Snow for the holidays!

Damn, that is one nasty script. It slows down Firefox and uses 50% of a dual core processor.

Thank God it is easy enough to block it!!

I made this change and it seems to be better for me. Thanks for the tip!

Please Remove Snow...

I actually do like it but it slows down my old work computer a lot - very annoying

Switch to the wide version of the style sheets at the bottom of the page and they are gone.

You are welcome, I am glad that I could help. I flip back and forth between the normal and wide versions (I run four 20" widescreens on my desktop at work) and once the snow started "falling" I switched back to the wide until we get better weather.
