The script is updating the screen every 25ms, that's really overkill at 40fps.
10fps or 100ms would be sufficient and place much less load on the cpu.
I have Core Duo on my laptop w/ Windows 7, 2.20GHz Processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM. I don't notice any abbreviation from the norm.
