This is incorrect......The data for the application itself is stored on the Storage Card. Only the icon file for the application is stored on the phone memory. This feature was preloaded by Google to keep stress on the phone memory down.

Well, it doesn't seem to work this way on my Droid. There are some files stored on the SD card but most of it is stored in the main device memory.

Also, everything I have read states this to be true. So, please kindly post the source of your information so that I can read up on it.

In the comments and the followup reply from the site. Only the core information needed to launch and maintain the program is put on the internal memory, sounds, graphics, menu's, anything that the app needs to run will be loaded and pulled from the SD card. So yes, it has limitations, but not as extreme as the 256 MB originally thought.

EDIT: Google is also working on a update to the phone that will allow full installation of everything to the SDcard.

Umm, yeah. That proves my point.

The appstosd program can only run on rooted phones. So that does not work on the Droid. In my earlier reply I said that some apps will store info on the SD card.

Not exactly sure yet where the info came from that only the link is installed to main memory.

"Eating Crow"
Sorry, since I was the one who started this thread. I have to apologize to everyone here. (because I have grown fondly of hanging out with you for such a long time) I have loved my Omnia for 11 blissful months. But now I will be transferring my attention to the Android section. Uh, excuse? I COULDN'T RESIST!! Just the nature of the beast. I do have the Droid. And Solange, I used my wife's account because her phone is like flip clam that is old and she will never ever want an upgrade. So I got the Droid on her phone and then switched the number back to my number. That is how I got the Droid before my plan was up.
So I'm not going to bash the Omnia or WM. Just slipping away silently. I may see some of you over there too. I hope. I'm going to miss this thread.

Talked to a guy on another forum who basically spent 2 days installing every app he could find in an attempt to overload the space on his phone. He has installed 160 apps on his droid and it is still letting him install more. If you need room for more than 160 apps you have an app DL problem....

Re: For those about to defect to Droid (or android)

Thanks IClickJohn!

In regards to the space issue, there was a whole article on this on Phonedog. And someone asked one of the Android execs about the space issue, and he said they were aware of it but that Android wasnt advanced enough yet to worry about that. So I think what it means is that apps now are still relatively small enough to not cause much of an issue, but the point Phonedog and others are making is that anyone wanting to develop a nice app or game like the Iphone games, with good graphics, that needs a lot of space and will not be possible on most of these Android phones. And it is a valid point, thought not enough to stop me from getting the Droid! I think I'm getting it, but probably cant get it till next month, Im dying!

Can you tether with this phone without being charged the $30.00 tethering fee through Verizon?

With the omnia or the droid? You can with the omnia, probably not with the droid.
