Anyways, Im not sure which out of all these things has helped the most, since I use all of them, but something has helped for sure:

-Gpsgate (had to pay 20 bucks for it, you may want to try all the other things first and leave this as a last resort)
-CGPS Titanium Panel
-Adrynalyn's HTC Quick GPS patched
- GPS Settings cab extracted from Omnia Lite, found here, 5th from the top in the list:

Can I get some sort of clarity. It seems like everyone is using someth patch, .cab or tweak for gps, but it still seems to be a mystery as to how this thing actually works for you.

I am using Evidence's Eyemaster 9.1 ROM. There is a cgps panel on it. When I press the panel it never locks. I am confused. The questions are:

1. Does this panel turn on gps once i click it OR do I have to do another step?

If this does NOT turn it on automatically:

2. What program/app/.cab provides a on-button "on/off' switch. I get tired of having to go through settings/ then phone/ then services/ then 911 or location.

3. Is there such a service that does this.

Again, I know how to hit the search button on this site and I have looked around but everyone is always saying something different. Thanks in advance!

Re: Quicker GPS fix?

To clarify some misunderstandings here throughout this thread...

You only have to go to Phone > Services > GPS > Select Location On > Soft Reset ONCE. After that, the phone is forever free to use the GPS every time an application activates it. Other applications, such as Google Maps, GPS Toggle (not usable on Titanium), and CGPS (Titanium panel) turn on the GPS and search for a lock.

This DOES activate the GPS chip and starts searching for satellites. Once it obtains a lock, it shuts off and then restarts every five minutes in order to maintain what I think is known as "warm lock." This is a compromise between a rapid battery drain due to constant GPS use and having to start from a cold lock when beginning Google Maps or some other GPS-enabled mapping application. This way, when you start Google Maps, or Bing, or GPS Weather Radar Pro, it gets a much faster lock than you would otherwise.

As I mentioned before, you only have to do the phone settings once. CGPS (WinMo 6.5) and GPSToggle (WinMo 6.1 or traditional screen on 6.5) allow a warm lock on the satellites, and is the closest to what you are looking for. There is also a paid service, GPSGate, that I have heard of, but I have not used it.

Re: Quicker GPS fix?

I asked the original question and I appreciate the answers. What I have done. I downloaded gpsgate (trial version). Had to download to my laptop and then open the program. It then installed onto my storage card. Did a soft reset and had gps gate in my programs. started gpsgate and followed directions. Started google maps and had a lock in about 1 minute. worked fine after that so today I drove 30 miles away and while driving started google maps after having shut it completly down and not using it for 3 days. While driving got 4 sats in about 1 min and then 6 sats in less than a min and a half. Someone on another thread said that after the 14 day trial gpsgate will probably still work for getting instant fixes just wont work for the other apps that it provides. Ill let you know what I find.
