Re: Tell me on the Omnia :)

So I've been playing with this. It's a cool idea, but still needs work. For me it works about 1/3 of the time for calling & texting (but not dictating the message). Then when it's time to dictate the message things get pretty horrendous lol.

The single largest problem is that the mic/speak function doesn't seem to work properly 100% of the time. It seems that for every one out of three tries it "works", and in between I have to start "Speak", then cancel it. And only after doing that a couple times does it work.

Something else to keep in mind... on the Intrepid you can use TellMe at anytime by hitting your hardware "speak" button... but the omnia has no such interface. That limits where you can use this.

Still, I'll be very interested in seeing this more as it progresses.

I agree. I dont get why it works so bad though, I wonder how it is on the phones it is actually available for? Since the voice recognition part of it is through the network, you would think the phone you use it on wouldnt make a difference. If it works as bad on all phones as it does on mine, I find it hard to believe anyone at all uses it. But if it is just certain phones or certain ROMs, I wonder what the difference is? You would think if you could install it and get it to run, that means it would work the way it's supposed to. Or I could be wrong, who knows.

You could always set up one of your hardware keys to run Tellme, although you would still have to press Speak, so not as good as on the Samsung Intrepid but it makes it a bit easier than having to go in Start Menu and run the program. If I could get it to recognize what the hell Im saying I would do that, but until then I have regular voice command mapped to the menu button

Remember that what we have is an early release, too. *shrugs*

This program is awesome. I just started using it, but I think it works pretty good. There is always some bugs, when you are running a different ROM.

Wirelessly posted (Omnia1: Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; Windows CE; Opera Mobi/9.5; U; en) VZW:SCH-i910 PPC 240x400)

im running a stock rom and the editing feature for texts is driving me batty. i speak" this app is cool" it writes " the sub pow is beat". i may be older but i dont think thats the modern speak translation for what i spoke and when i press edit the dpad just starts a new line no matter which direction i press. for free i wont complain too much

Re: Tell me on the Omnia :)

This is working flawlessly for me on Adryn's 2.0 Vanilla. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Tell me on the Omnia :)

Found out, if you are running BGILLS V55, you need to install Voice Command. That was not in his V55 ROM.

Re: Tell me on the Omnia :)

How is this different from, say... BING? Aren't both set-up to do roughly the same? I mean, like, other than they both being voice responsive... what is the value/use of this software? The site is more fluff than function and "real world" use and application.
