google maps cell triangulation questions?

Can sombody explain this to me? I Drove from oklahoma to iowa. And my google maps was picking up the gps quick in all states but oklahoma. im thinking that it was getting my position thru cell triangulation. why will this not work in oklahoma?

I'm in OKC and it works for me. It's not quick to find satellites, but it does work eventually.

terrain? the satelites should work the same but if its using cells and you are in a limited cell coverage area then ,like old TDMA, it needs more towers to work right and until it finds a 3rd it wont triangulate
have you tried turning " use gps satelites" on? it kills your battery much faster but will find you faster in no/low reception areas if terrain permits.mine was about 6' off the other night,found 4 satelites in a couple minutes. i was inside my house in a heavily wooded neighborhood it showed me right outside the room i was in. when i walked around inside it followed me
