flash custom rom to a flashed cricket omnia?

my friend has an omnia that is flashed to cricket wireless. can he flash to these custom 6.5 roms or will that change the radio in his phone to no longer work on their service?
as i understand it...these roms are built off of verizons radio.

any idwas or help would be great...

i think ALL of the i910 roms are VZW specific, maybe he can flash it to a new rom and then flash it back to cricket?
I remember people doing that with the Q9c's they'd flashed to cricket when the WM 6.1 update came out on everythingwm
