Also, that report mentions that the person helping might have confused the i900 for the Omnia 2. I will be shocked if we get updates for this phone.

Re: Original Samsung Omnia getting a Windows Mobile 6.5 update
I would expect Bell mobility (canada) to update my phone as it is was only released here 4-5months ago. Here's hoping!

Re: Original Samsung Omnia getting a Windows Mobile 6.5 update
Just an FYI. if you have downloaded off of PPCGEEKS, or accidentally came across this website maybe looking to buy pampers, or maybe you were looking for porn. THEN YOU OFFICIALLY KNOW MORE THE THE MORONS THAT WORK FOR THE CARRIERS. also they arent told anything about whats coming out they find out the same ways we do "I-Net". Sorry to burst your bubble. But check it out for yourself. Go into one of the stores, or call customer service, and quiz them on somthing you know they should know. I bet you will be dissapointed. My opinion is it wouldnt be cost effective to sell a phone for 49.99, or under 200.00 for that matter and provide on going upgrades. I think we were fortunate that they sent us the upgrade they did because that never happens.
thats just my 4 cents |

Re: Original Samsung Omnia getting a Windows Mobile 6.5 update
it could really go a bunch of different ways... with the ever changing mobile market really anything can happen. in my opinion it would be smart for verizon to offer this upgrade on the omnia especially now that the phone is at a cheaper price possibly getting someone into a smart phone that otherwise wouldnt. and we all know carriers dont make money off the handsets they sell but the service that comes with it.

Re: Original Samsung Omnia getting a Windows Mobile 6.5 update
Many of Verizon's phones have had updates long after they were put on sale. The 5800, 6800, 6900, 8830, and more recently the 8330 and 8130. The manufacturer releases the update and makes the phone not the carrier. Your theory doesn't hold water.

Re: Original Samsung Omnia getting a Windows Mobile 6.5 update
Verizon must put their own software in the ROM and test it. That has nothing to do with the manufacturer. If Verizon doesn't say make an update then an update doesn't get made.

Re: Original Samsung Omnia getting a Windows Mobile 6.5 update
exactly the carrier is in charge of the updates they say yes or no. and there is a liability on there part of the update a bug or bricks your phone. so its not worth it to them.
