Keyboard sometimes doesn't type characters in custom roms?

I had this issue in C220, CF03, and the custom ROMS. This has nothing to do with cooked roms, and is an isue with the TX9 keyboard. When I switch to a different keyboard (like SPB), the problem goes away. I have SPB keyboard installed, not becuase I like it, but because I need it as a backup if the other one craps out. A soft reset is the only thing that gets it working again for me.

I found that the samsung keyboard that happens to be reskinned with most of the roms you described if im not wrong, i well personally dont like the layout so i cant say as much to the stock keyboards. However Fingerkeyboard 2.1 is out and it is freeware available on xda and i have never had an issue with it, even when those google map typing issues popped up i put that keyboard on and it all worked good. Try it, see if that helps and you may like it, one drawback though, no predictive text, though i dont use that feature.

I wonder why so much breaks in an *upgrade*. The original verizon ROM never had this problem.

happened to me too. Switch to the built in keyboard and no problem.

It's a bug. No different then any other bug that ever existed in new or old code.

Happens to me...Adryn's Vanilla 3.0

I just doink around, in & out, keyboard swap, yada yada til it starts typin. Not too often so it hasn't pissed me off too much yet.

I've seen this issue as well with my roommate's Omnia. I haven't yet found a true fix, but I've been playing with it.

The SMSTrigger.exe fix helps, but doesn't fully resolve the issue, which leads me to think its an issue with the SMSTrigger.exe file some how, but I'm not terribly familiar with the Omnia architecture, as I mostly work with my HTC Touch Pro (imagine that lol)

Windows Mobile is Windows Mobile, be it Omnia or HTC.

The change is in the SYS, not the OEM, which is where the SMSTrigger would be coming from.
