SMS Issue in CF03 - What Causes it?

So we've all had the issue with SMS count since the beta rom. I had the same issue with my touch diamond and my treo pro, so I venture this is an issue with more current windows builds.

I recently got my i910 replaced and have the original shipped rom on it, so I'm wondering if there is a certain older system file on this ROM that, when copied to the new ROM, will fix the problem.

Is it an issue with Pocket Outlook? the SMSTrigger app? Registry? Has anyone actually isolated it?

Also, is there a particular utility that I can use to backup the windows directory on the device, so I can go back in a tool through it at a later time? I keep on getting access violations from explorer (I'm guessing because the files are still in use).

Not sure if it was ever isolated, just some bug that we could never isolate.

As for backing up the original stuff, I think you'd have to get Resco Explorer or Total Commander to allow you access to everything.

Its caused by changes to tmail.exe, most likely.

Total Commander shoots out an error when I try to copy it. I think it might be because the file is in use by Windows.

I'm actually contemplating not updating my phone to CF03 because the SMS issue is THAT annoying to me...although I'd like to have GPS

I'm wondering if you could just copy the older version of tmail.exe into the new directory? I realize that it could trigger a bunch of other unwanted issues / crashes. It just won't let me copy tmail.exe out of the windows directory.

Im confused on the issue too. Is this the issue in threaded sms where it shows you still have unread messages even though you read the thread? If so mine seems to be fixed, I think it's that last cab you gave us in the Cf03 thread Adrynalyne.

Thats the one I know about, and I have the problem even after a new flash of cf03. havent tried any of the cooked roms yet.
