GPS can't find me

I have GPS unlocked and I am using Google Maps. I have set the com to 8 and the other setting to 57600 but I can't get a signal lock. I sat outside for about 5 minutes and it wouldn't lock. I have good signal and it will find me within about 4000 meters.

any ideas.

Did you go into Settings -> Personal -> Phone -> Gps -> Change Settings, and then set GPS to 'Location On' and re-boot?

I have location on, using CF03 and google maps takes forever to find any signal. Actually, any program takes forever. Usually around 10 minutes or more. I tired google maps, windows live, and IGO8. I also have a bluetooth GPS, and if I connect that to my omnia, I get cold lock in about a minute. I think the GPS just sucks in the phone.

How about the weather? Is it stormy? Cloudy?

Remember, the GPS receiver in your phone needs to receive a signal that's being pushed from a satellite 13,000 miles away in space - junk weather tends to block that signal to a degree

It was probably partly cloudy, but not that bad, and wasn't raining. And I have done a test with the built in GPS, and my bluetooth GPS. Bluetooth GPS always gets a lock in about a minute or so. The phones GPS takes at least 8 to 10 minutes. But after that it works fine.

Partly cloudy shouldn't block it. Could be any number of factors, most of which you probably don't have any control over.

If you don't mind turning off Titanium, there is an app out there called GPS Toggle. It's small, runs on the Today screen (with Titanium disabled), and keeps a lock for you all day long. That way when you go into Google Maps/iGO8/Bing, you have an isntant lock

Ha, I like Titanium. That would be a nice app if it worked in conjuction with Titanium. But I don't use the GPS in my phone that much anyway to even worry about it. My old Axim X50v and my bluetooth GPS work good enough for navigation.

You are outside when you're trying to get a lock, right?

Re: GPS can't find me

Something (another program) seems to be holding the GPS up. I use Google Maps and get the GPS lock ~1 minute, even with Omnia sitting on windshield mount inside car. Maybe try soft reset and make sure everything is shut down except Google Maps then see if performance improves.
