...touch screen issue, need to recover my files?

Long story short, something strange happened to my Omina(vzw 910). For some reason the touch screen won't respond anymore. Origianlly it was stuck on "unlock". I couldn't press unlock or cancel, on the screen. I figured it was software related and I could just hard reset then reinstall everything minus the offending software. I did the hard reset and the device still shows it was "locked". It didn't go away. Now it's stuck on the screen that says "tap screen to set up..." which is the green Win 6.1 screen. This is when I realized the screen was no longer responding. It wasn't software related or anything else. I called VZW and they're sending me a new device, but I still have files in my storage. Anyways I would like to recover the files that are in "my storage"... I connect via USB only to see the device does not show up as removable storage. XP detects it, but it doesn't show up. Please can someone help me out here? I have just a couple of days until I have to ship the broken device back,

Re: ...touch screen issue, need to recover my files?

Have you flashed to CF03? If so, re-do it again and see if it fixes the issue. If not, then do it anyway as it will fix many bugs related to the phone's features (not to mention it will enable GPS!)

If flashing the phone fixes the problem, awesome. If not, then it sounds like a hardware issue and, if plugging it into Windows still doesn't let you access the files, then I'm afraid you are out of luck

No, chief, I didn't forget. I'm only asking because perhaps flashing to the Verizon approved CF03 may correct some setting that is throwing your phone's screen calibration off

+1, if the screen already isn't responding trying this can't really do any more damage

Re: ...touch screen issue, need to recover my files?

First try to navagate to turn the mouse midle key into a mouse pointer. Then you can navagate eiser. Try to align screen in settings. If it does not let you ir it still does not work than puill battery while its on than wait atliest a minute or five. Put battery back in and restart. Verizon wireless tech said you should soft reset that way once a week. But My screen problem was that when you pressed on it it would press somewhere completley different. Made it seem it did not work. I reset that way a couple times and to my suprized it work. But the screen alighnment screen will show if ther is touch feelings.

CF03 required a screen align, nit o specificly remember Adryns base rom not requiring it. Trytjat them sync and your golden.

Re: ...touch screen issue, need to recover my files?

Ok I understand now, but all I wish to do is recover some files from "my storage". Will my stuff still therei fI flash it? Something I left out is that the pc detects the device, it even shows up in the device manager, it comes up as SCH-i910. i was thinking maybe since the device is stuck in a between state, it's not seeing it, due to the driver missing. Perhaps I can "force" it with a driver for the phone? It seems there but it shows up with an exclaimation point, like any other missing driver. As if it halfway detected it. Could it be as simple as getting a USB driver for the phone? Mind you I haven't seen one.

Re: ...touch screen issue, need to recover my files?

Do you have vista or xp. Vista downloads driver automaticaly. But when you flash it does reset most everything except storage card. Move or keep all that you want there. I have noticed unless you set your phone up as a mass storage device my pc does not read or see all the files. Use resco explorer or total commander and move the files to storage card before you flash. The exclamation point means you have ten minutes to run or your computer and phone will melt into a big pile of goo wich will then explode. LOL
