Hey... Has this happened to YOU...??

Hi, Guys!

Like many of my fellow PPCGeekers, I have modded my Verizon Wireless Samsung Omnia i910, and recently upgraded the device to permit use of the GPS as well as upgraded the ROM to the 6.5 OS, with my sincere compliments to the "chefs". All has been working well, without incident... until today. I usually keep my phone plugged-in to a wall charger, car charger or docked with my computer when it is not on my hip. This morning I had unplugged it from its evening slumber spot and had it off-charger for about an hour before I had gone into my office - where, as I have many times before - put the Omnia in its cradle and plugged the cord in... docking it with the Vista computer. The usual tell-tale "tone" sounded, assuring me it was sync'd. No worries, or so I though.

I was checking my email - on my Omnia (while it was plugged-in to the desktop) and all was going well, until the screen on the i910 just went BLANK. Odd, I thought, as I pushed the stylus into the pinhole to reboot. Nothing.

I tried it again, only this time, I held the stylus in for quite a while and released. Nothing.

I then tried to hold down the "on/off" button in a number of configurations... only to result in the same... nothing, yet again.

I am at a loss, as nothing "new" was added to the new mod, I have been using this canned kitchen for quite some time without any incident.

I left the device in the charger for over an hour and attempted to start the phone again, and after holding down the "on/off" button, I got the battery charge icon. "Good" I thought, "...we're getting somewhere... all's NOT lost."

I depressed the button, yet again - and my handy little electronic memory booted to life... with the green protons flying around. Bingo... back to the familiar Titanium welcome screen and background. But, wait - the PHONE feature seems to be turned OFF. No attempt to get it to reconnect - whether to go to through the Connections panel or by tapping on the screen icon will switch it over, as it remains as an "X". Damn. DAMN...!

Then, it did it - again....! Whilst still plugged in to the Desktop, the phone turned "off". As my kids so adroitly text... WTF...?!?!

Can any one offer any suggestion/fixes for this malady? It presents as a rapid power drain.

I can't imagine that any of the upgrading played a role in this, as it was working just fine.

I'm sure that if one of us is experiencing this - someone else surely is. I'm without a clue here.

Please reply to this post - so others can benefit to your helpful knowledge.

I eagerly look forward to your collective replies!

Perhaps a corrupt system file or some program that's conflicting with something? Have you tried a hard reset?

Re: Hey... Has this happened to YOU...??

I would need to be able to get to an active system, first. I removed the battery, waited for 10 minutes, and replaced same, still the same result. Called the Mother Office (Verizon) and they are sending me another unit, as this one may just have a hardware issue, since the power lite on the top, near the "on/off" switch won't even glow when the device is plugged in to the wall outlet. I worked perfectly fine before. Oh well, that is what paving insurance and a warranty is for. Worth every dime.
