Re: will i still have my modem after flashing........

The long story is...

Verizon takes out a windows feature for sharing internet, then puts their own piece of software on it to do the same thing. This is because their software allows them to monitor your use and charge you for it.

This is the same scenario that cable and DSL companies tried to pull some years back before the average person knew what a router was. its bull to charge people extra to access something they already pay for.

The cooked Roms do not remove this feature, meaning you are far better off with one. Also as a bonus, there is an app "wmwifirouter" which will let you do the same thing with wifi from your phone, bypassing the need for usb at all.

Wifirouter is better used when two or more computers need access to the net at the same time. The battery drain just to not use a cable is not worth it for one computer. The Wifi radio in our Omnias put out a lot of heat. That is an indication of how much current it's drawing. If you're gonna be connected for any length of time I would suggest USB instead of Wifirouter.

On the other hand, if you're just gonna jump on to Google something or make an online order or payment and then get off Wifirouter might be more convenient. Just turn it on, do your thing and turn it off.

Most of the ROMs (Adrynalyne, BlazingWolf, bgill55, etc.) around here now have ICS and WMwifirouter cooked in for your convenience.
