Question Omnia phone issue

I have an issue with my Omnia with the original Verizon ROM, I haven't flashed it yet, but the pone was acting up.

It works fine and out of nowhere I can't dial any number manually or from my contacts. the phone display an error message that the number is wrong or I have no service. that would happened when I have service in a location where I always have good service and the number is correct.

The only way to fix that is to reset the phone then it would work fine at the same spot with the same number.

I'm wondering if anyone else have this issue?

Re: Omnia phone issue

It's gotta be a problem with the contact, write down the contacts info, erase it, and manually enter it again and see if that fixes it.

The contacts are fine, the same number that stopped working was working before the phone started to act up, and it works again after the reset.

Regardless if I using the phone book or a manual dial, and regardless which number I'm dialing, the phone would stop working and display the error message.

After I do a soft reset everything goes back to normal for a while, that could be a day, a week an hour and when you think it is fixed, the ERROR pop up comes again and I need to reset one more time.

I have not had this issue...but have u tried *228 option 1 and then again with option 2

when u say reset...do u mean a soft reset (the little button at the top next to the power button)

or a Hard reset which erases everything...?

Did try *228 option 1 (as instructed by V tech) and 2, that would not fix the issue.

Most of the time a soft reset will do, but sometimes the phone freeze and I had to remove the battery.

Re: Omnia phone issue

usually you don't have to go in, just call it in, then ask them to put a note on your account so that you can go into a store to exchange it. Then they will either exchange it on the spot if they have them in stock, or ship one to you (which is far less painful than it sounds).

Either way, id exchange the phone.

Re: Omnia phone issue

Seriously though' ya' gotta' upgrade to one of the several excellent i910 custom ROMs available here and at Modaco. Process is painless (compared to when I used to flash my HTC phones), and you get MUCH more value for the money you send to "Big Red" every month. IMHO, it's the ONLY way to fly.

Re: Omnia phone issue

I called tech support about 3 times every time they try something new, soft reset, hard reset, battery removal, manual programming, *228, ...... and everyone told me that he/she will document the issue in my account so I don't have to go over every little detail with the next tech I talk to but, it looks like they never did as I had to go all over from the beginning with every person at their tech support for the 3 times.

2 days ago, I was on the phone with a data support person for about an hour, he asks question then go consult with other tech support and come back with more questions.

He asked about the ROM ver., H/W version, .... then a woman came and asked me to wait until the phone acts up again and run right away to Verizon store to show them that error (lol or col) as that, according to her is a never reported error for the Omnia.

After I explained to her how ridiculous her idea is - as I would have to stop everything, leave work and rush to a store 30 min away to show them the error or stay without a phone until I leave work and go to the store - she agreed to send me a "like new replacement phone".

By the way I called my local store and they stated they have no Omnia to change my phone they only have them for new contracts and asked me to call tech support or go to the store and they may be able to order one "like new" for me.

Just sharing my horror experience trying to replace my phone with the original ROM, God only knows what they would have done to me if I've flashed with something else????
