Map button for audio record?

Is there a way to map a button to start an audio recording and stop when the button is released? This was the standard function of a side button on the i730 (where the menu button is on the omnia). The i730 has the button mapped to the "record" function and opens up the notes app to do it. While the omnia has the same notes app, it does not have a "record" function as a button map option.

Thanks.

Re: Map button for audio record?

You have to move the voicerecorder.exe app in \windows to \windows\start menu\programs and change the mapping in settings\personal\buttons

Re: Map button for audio record?

Will this work on the i910 or just he i900? If you do this mapping, can you then use the notes app to record phone calls????

Re: Map button for audio record?

Thanks for the info greenskeeper. However, I can't find voicerecorder.exe in the windows folder. I am running just a stock omnia and haven't flashed it with anything. Is this something included in one of the roms? I'll take a look at my i730 and see if I can figure out what file it is using. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Re: Map button for audio record?

oh...i never looked for the voicerecorder.exe in the stock rom. It may be a CC20 addition that never made it. I say flash! You won't regret it.

I have CC20 ROM, and I tried to do this with Resco Explorer but it gave me an error message saying it cant be deleted or something. Is there some setting I can change in the explorer to allow me to move stuff that comes in the ROM?

Right, It is a ROM file so it can not be deleted. You can copy it to another location though.

Thanks Blazingwolf, I did try just copying it into programs, but then when I went to the buttons settings to try to map the voicerecorder to a hard key, the voicerecorder doesnt appear in the list of programs.
