Do ringtones have to be on device?

Do ringtones have to be on Device Storage, or can they be in My Storage or Storage Card?

I know notification sounds have to be in the Windows folder on the device. But I'm not sure on the others...

Re: Do ringtones have to be on device?

Yeah, it could be on storage, as long as it's in the root.

i always put ringtones on my storage. Usually i just navigate to the tone/song and long press til I get the drop down menu and select "set as ringtone"

What do you mean by root? I'd like to have all my tones on my storage card as possibilities for ringtones!

The root of"my storage" would be \my storage. Essentially the root of a directory i.e. not in a subfolder.

Again, you could create a folder called ringtones on your storage card and navigate to a specific audio file and long press to get the drop down menu. Once there, select set as ringtone.
