Omnia Signal Strength

Hi all,

Been a member of the site since my xv6700 days. Just got a new Omnia and have a questions for ya all. Live in the West Phoenix area and have no signal. I get one or two bars max and drop calls on a regular/constant basis. Never had an issue at all with the old phone and always received max signal. My question is what is your opinioin of signal strength and is it possible I received a defective unit? Love the phone but if I can't make calls.... Anyone live around here that can comment. I am thinking about trading out the phone for a replacement or another and could use some comments.

Thanks!!!

Re: Omnia Signal Strength

I dont know if you are doing this, but when talking, try not to put ur palm on the bottom of the phone. That is strangely where the integrated wireless radio and antenna is... Hopefully this works out for you. However, I know what you mean about lower signal strength, as I'm coming from a Maxx VE (Amazing reception) and the omnia just does not compete with it in terms of signal.

Re: Omnia Signal Strength

I just got mine and I notice the signal isn't quite as good as my previous 2 razr's, though the number of bars aren't directly comparable and my phone still works even if there's only one or even no bars. I tried mine out in a notorious low signal strength area and tried to activate my phone which failed until I moved towards the window to get a better signal, then I could make calls in the entire building. The antenna is also very sensitive, so covering up the bottom part of the phone will diminish the signal, and even tilting the phone slightly upwards gives me more bars.
