End button functionality

I seem to have lost the end button functionality in some cases. Like when in a call, I have to wake of the screen before the end button works. Also when I hold the button the phone no longer locks. Can someone lead me in the direction for these settings in the registry. I have already checked the Settings/system area and the radio button for lock on hold is ticked.
