Talking New to PPC and Omnia

I just purchased an Omnia and wanted to use it on Alltel, but they told me they would not/could not do it.

I know that it has been done, so what do I need to do, or what I need to tell Alltel to do, to make it work??

I know nothing about PPC's, but I do build computers and tweak and hack them, so I am not totally stupid!! BUT, this is my first PPC and I am an old man that grew up with rotary phones, so speak slow and clear !!! LOL!!!

THANKS in advance!!!!

Welcome to Geekdom! I, too, grew up with rotary dial phones, as well as black and white TV's with those monstrous roof antenna. My suggestion would be to visit the Omnia forum here on the site, as you'll get device specific info there.

Re: New to PPC and Omnia

Thanks for the reply and the welcome!! I have been looking and looking through the Omnia forums, and have found a couple of threads about using the Omnia on Alltel, but I have not found any advice on how to do it. That is why I posted the question, hoping to get some step by step directions on what to do. THANKS AGAIN!!

Re: New to PPC and Omnia

Altel was purchased by VZW and the conversion should be completed this year unless you are in one of the unlucky markets that had to be resold and AT&T Picked that up. That being said, I would contact Altel and ask them when your area is scheduled to be converted to VZW or AT&T...

Re: New to PPC and Omnia

I did ask when the conversion would be complete and was told our area would be one of the last.... months from now

I sure would like to play with my new Omnia before it is obsolete!! LOL!!

Re: New to PPC and Omnia

Call alltel and tell them its an samsung delve (samsungs model that alltel carries). This worked for me. Anytime they question you, just be like "well it says alltel at the top of the phone.." lemme know if this works.
