EV-DO and 1x RTT

So I'm not sure where to put this to get it seen by the right person but here goes.

I noticed last night my i910 will loose it's EV-DO. It works fine but it doesn't go EV-DO anymore. If I turn of the phone radio ( airplane mode ) and back on it will work as it should until it looses it's EVDO connection. Then the proccess starts over.

I've seen some one else post on this problem but I can't find it, and searches are not comming up succesful. Would the user with the problem post a fix if he/she found it.
In the mean time I'm going to do a hard reset without backing up and see if it's something I did. Thanks

Re: EV-DO and 1x RTT

You have a poor EV-DO signal.

Have you updated your PRL?

If you've flashed your Omnia and not updated the PRL, dial *228 and choose option 1, let it finish and reset, then do *228 and option 2, again letting it finish and reset.

Re: EV-DO and 1x RTT

EVDO and 1x are the same thing. At least they run on the same hardware at the cell tower site. The only difference is that when you have a crap load of circuits available you have EVDO speed. If you're too far away from the tower and/or there are a lot of calls being made off that particular tower, then the availability of the speed may decrease causing your phone to tell you that by displaying the 1x icon. That being said however, just because your phone displays that icon doesn't necessarily mean that your speed has in fact decreased. It just means that the last time your phone and tower "talked" to each other the speed availability was low.

I used to be a cell phone technician for US Cellular.

I would recommend what Adryn suggested, but also not to worry too much.

Re: EV-DO and 1x RTT

Yeah, I updated my PRL a few days ago, but that was because I noticed this. It's odd because I live in the country a little bit so there can't be all that many connections out here and I noticed a drastic decrease in download speed.

For future referance is there a speedtest I can use for mobile phones? I know dslreports has one for the iphone....?
