i actually have a 16gb in mine that i got from amazon. here's the link to the place off amazon that i got mine from and it works great. if you order one, just make sure that you format it first before saving anything to it.

for backup, i use resco. i've heard that spb is good, but i haven't tried it. download the trial version of each and see which one ya like.

do you have a memory card installed on your phone?
Okay, more help.
I just received my 4GB mem card, installed it, ran a Resco FULL backup(trial version for now), and now im ready to get some "unofficial ROM."
I'm trying to follow this link provided to me but once I click on it, it sends me to Modaco which in there, I click on UMDL_OMNIA_v2.3.rar link but it directs me to a board message saying I have to log in. Is this true just to get to this link??

Re: Im just now learning here...

Okay, i've registered for MoDaCo. I see the online instructions but Active Sync never works for my PC! Is there a way around that or do I just HAVE to have active sync to complete this?

you have to get active sync working between your phone and your computer. that's how they "talk" to one another. you wont need it to install the unofficial rom, but there is a setting within active sync that you'll need to uncheck.

.....and that .rar file over at modaco, you'll need to extact that somewhere (like your desktop) and you'll need winrar to extract it.

by the way, where at in GA are ya?

Re: Im just now learning here...

You can get ActiveSync at Micro$oft.com. Find the drivers for the phone at Verizon. I'm sure you can find both in one place if you Gargle for them.

If you got the phone from Verizon you should have both on CD.

Cool. But everytime my ActiveSync is connected, a Microsoft Outlook box pops up & tells me "You have not entered a valid product key. Please check the number located on the sticker on the back of the CD case or on your Certificate of Authenticity." WTF!! And this happens EVERYTIME I plug in my omnia to my PC and that box pops up every 2 minutes or so. I get the jist of what ActiveSync is for but this *beep* irritates me everytime!! Then this red exclamation point in the ActiveSync box tells me it 'encountered a problem.(Support Code: 85010014)' Then it just continues to try to synchronize with my PC.

As far as winrar, I think I could get that no problem.

And I am located by ATL Motor Speedway.

Re: Im just now learning here...

sounds like your outlook is corrupted or something. i don't think that i've ever run into that problem. and the reason that you're getting the red exclamation point is because active sync is telling you that something is wrong between itself and outlook (as if you didn't already know that)

is there a way that you can re-install or repair outlook and see if anything happens after that? this is a stupid question, but you're not using outlook express right? it's the full blown version? (i'm just trying to toss out ideas for ya) which version are you running?

here's a couple links for ya to look at when you have time:

http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/e...4-8a877fcf525f

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912241/en-us

i hope that these will help you out and get that error resolved.

Well I don't have outlook installed on my PC. It never was and never has been since I've had my PC.

Re: Im just now learning here...

well, i think there lies the issue. if i'm not mistaken, active sync is coded to run with outlook. (someone correct me if i'm wrong) there are a couple of other sync programs out there that you can use that don't look for outlook, are and customizable to your liking. but every time you fire up active sync, it's looking for outlook to "talk" to and since you don't have it installed, that's why it's shutting down or not working.

what are you using to sync up your contacts, appointments, notes, etc?
