Re: YouMail

This is a pretty neat service. It uses the "No Answer Call Forwarding" service Verizon provides. The web interface isn't bad. The call-in interface is not significantly different than the VZW one, and it's free. The mobile web interface is pretty easy to use. When it sends you a text message regarding a new VM, there is a small ad at the bottom of it. The VM to text transcription service is a pay service that starts out at $3.99 per month. Also, if you don't have an unlimited texting plan, keep in mind that you will receive a text message every time you miss a call regardless of whether or not the person leaves a message. Overall, it is pretty intuitive and works as it is supposed to. I will test it out further over the next few days and add anything else I find out about this service.

Re: YouMail

i just got done testing it out a little bit myself. i imported my contact list from my outlook contacts, made a couple groups, and i changed the way that i'm alerted even though i have unlimited text messages, i'll just have the program send me an email.

for my co-worker group, i have the taliban message kickin' in. this ought to be funny..... and for my family, i have the standard one where it announces the person's name. that's the one that i tested out.

so far for being free, it seems like a cool and "free" service. i know that i don't plan on purchasing the 3.99 plan or any other paid service from them and i can deal with the little ads that will come in the emails. can't wait to set the unavailable or blocked feature.

Re: YouMail

I love youmail. One thing that I do is I have a rule setup in my gmail account to forward all mail from voicemail@youmail.com to xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com. that way I get the voicemail as a mms. pretty much free visual voicemail with instant access. the only thing that they are missing is a non webbrowser interface... then it would be perfect!

Re: YouMail

Call forwarding on VZW cost 10 cents. My bill was pretty high from using it, so I don't anymore. It's great for leaving messages for individual people though..

Re: YouMail

I love YouMail. It's nice to listen to voice mails online and the mobile browser page isn't horrible and is just like actual visual voicemail.

I just looked at my verizon bill and i was not and have never been billed for call forwarding. interesting.
