Question omnia auto connecting to broadband

hi ppc geeks,

i read this forum before buying my new omnia. i love the phone but i am having a problem with it connecting to broadband on it's own. at first i thought i was accidently hitting a buttom on the phone thru the case, but today i had it laying on the counter and watched it connect on it own 5-6 times. does anyone know how to help. i would like a fix not to return.

please help, thanks teresa

Re: omnia auto connecting to broadband

do you have an email account set up on it? If so is it set to check for mail automatically?

Re: omnia auto connecting to broadband

i set up an email account on 4/21. have not given out this new address except to ppcgeeks. i checked my data usage online thru seperate pc and found this phone has been auto connected since 4/14 the night i bought it. some of the kb are low but one was for 1183 kb and several for 300-5oo kb when i was not using but sleeping. when it connects it stays on. last i turned it off after 10 mins. i would think it should be small kb if its just updating email. since i'm still not receiving any email of this new account. is this normal or should it be small kb just to check for emails when none have been rec'd. at the rate its connecting i could go over by 5 BG by months end.

Re: omnia auto connecting to broadband

There is a program out there called nodata; google it and give it a try. I had the same problem and this little program won't let the data connection happen unless you request it.
