Re: Beta rom

Just heard..... New official ROM to be out by 6/20. Saw this posted @ verizon forum.

Good luck, and thanks to you that tried this out and kept us informed. So far I have only heard of one guy who bricked his phone during dowload. kinda tempted to take the plunge myself...

Do it B. I went ahead and took a leap and it came out awesome. To have the GPS to work......do it to it!! I installed all my programs before the new ROM, and I have yet to see any problems.

Re: Beta rom

OK....I know I am going to get a bit of flack from this, but I am really trying here. I am trying to update my Omnia on a Vista laptop (unfortunately...I prefer XP) and following the psd file to a T.

I uncheck the USB option in Windows Device Manager the psd tells us to uncheck in Active sync, run the flashing program, hit the appropriate choice and load the update file/image and then select the final button (detect), power down the Omnia (I am assuming pressing the top button), and plugging it into the laptop via USB, and then powering it back up..........then nothing!!!!

As I mentioned, I am trying to follow the instructions exactly, maybe I am missing something, maybe other Vista users did something different I can't pin down, but any info to help me out would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

I have been following the thread over in modaco, and i definitely remember something Vista users were doing different. Check it out. Something about un-checking some USB box or something, can't remember. I'll look and see if I can post a link...

Here is what I found there:

"Worked great for me...
Use the "unified image file box" to load the rom img

Also if you're using vista all you have to do is open Windows Mobile Device Center, select mobile device settings, then connection settings to disable the active sync"

Looks like you already did this though.......

Re: Beta rom

I got all that done, it seems to be that when I get to the final step the program isn't even detecting the Omnia being hooked up to the computer, it just sits there.

Re: Beta rom

hey all.... i've been reading about this ROM all morning from both sites and i'm pretty tempted to take the plunge myself. I'm assuming (i hate that word) that you have to install everything manual again like the Spb Mobile Shell, the wakeonsms cab and all the other cabs that Adrynalyne (thank you by the way) put together for us? i'm not too worried about backing anything up since one can always get appointments and contacts back through active sync with outlook, right?
