Smile Installation of "application" is unsuccessful

Hi All-

I tried doing a search on this with little luck on the resolution. I have a new i910 and whenever I go to install any application it fails with "Installation of "application" is unsuccessful". I have tried modifying the reg to not require certs, (so I ended up changing 101a to 1, 1010 to 1).

The setup.log xml shows (this is google maps, but all apps fail):

<characteristic-error type="Install"><parm name="InstallPhase" value="install"/>
<parm name="SetupDLL" value="1"/>
<parm name="OSVersionMin" value="4.0"/>
<parm name="OSVersionMax" value="6.99"/>
<parm name="BuildNumberMin" value="0"/>
<parm name="BuildNumberMax" value="-536870912"/>
<parm name="AppName" value="Google Maps"/>
<parm name="InstallDir" value="\." translation="install"/>
<parm name="NumDirs" value="4"/>
<parm name="NumFiles" value="44"/>
<parm name="NumRegKeys" value="12"/>
<parm name="NumRegVals" value="15"/>
<parm name="NumShortcuts" value="1"/>
</characteristic-error><characteristic type="FileOperation">

I am going crazy. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you installing in .cab or .exe format??

Re: Installation of "application" is unsuccessful

Maybe I didn't do all I needed to do to the reg. I followed this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1001 = 2
-> Change the value data from 2 to 1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1005 = 16
-> Change the value data from 16 to 40

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies\0000 1017 = 128
-> Change the value data from 128 to 144

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Security\Policies\Policies
-> Add new value "0000101a": Dword = 1

Re: Installation of "application" is unsuccessful

Quite honestly I am a little lost here. CAB installation should not need any registry changes. What steps are you taking when trying to install an app. I'm pretty sure this is obvious, but you are placing the CAB file on your device (main or memory) and just navigating Explorer to it and clicking on the file....right?

If you have a screen shot of the message and can list how you try to install, let us know and maybe we can figure out what is going on.
