Can't sync my Contacts with VISTA...!

Greetings, my fellow Omnia PPC Geeksters.

Prior to a recent forced upgrade to VISTA, we had been gleefully docking our constant Omnia companion to an XP computer, and sync'd said device's contacts and calendar information on the fly. Sadly, we are UNable to do so. The new computer didn't have Outlook... nor an Outlook Express-type of program, so we installed Outlook 2003 and hoped to simply upload what records and information we had on our Omnia devices... as we had done numerous times onto our previous XP units.

WHAT can be done... and with what...?? to get the information from my phone to the computer... and THEN allow both th share the information (an not overwrite).

I eagerly await your collective replies and kind contribution to this forum.

I have run into this as well, and aside from getting the current version of Outlook, I haven't found a way yet. I really thing it is a sin what marketing games (and that is what they were, MS isn't fully to blame on this one) have done, now we have to purchase another app to get full use of our PPC's!!!

Try syncing contacts and not calendar appointments along with it.

Still get an error? I synced my Mom's i760 on Vista with Outlook 2003.

Yeah. I even bought the Outlook 2007 program - specifically to work with this feature, and STILL no luck. Sadly, I feel I am NOT alone! What can we do to have the same open exchange between devices of contact information - as we had with ActiveSync....?!? This is sincerely maddening.

There isn't an "error" specifically. Rather, we attempt to sync our handy Omnia to our new Vista operating system and find it will not do so... sync that is... even though it said it did - through the Windows Mobile Device Center. I've attempted to upload my contacts list that I have on my Omnia onto a new Vista computer, and even though the computer shows it sync'ed... a quick check of either the newly uploaded Outlook 2007 or the Contacts list (under Owner)... shows "zip"... "Nada"... "Nuthin'...!"

I honestly don't know how to get the data from the phone onto the new computer... and THEN have them STAY sync'ed... like they did on our previous XP computer.

I actually have it syncing very well currently!! It took a few re-dos and deleting/re-establishing a few relationships (plus the added side effect of needing to purchase Outlook '07....thankfully I have a couple kids that need Work for school and one license of MS Office covers Outlook and multiple computers)!!

I sync via BT and it transfers data very well!!

(just a pain in the arse to start-up initially)

i had this same exact problem with my vista computer. what happened was i had wmdc but it was for the 32bit vista and my computer is 64bit. after going to the microsoft site and downloading the new wmdc it has worked flawlessly since.

MS Office wasen't included in your guy's Vista Computer? I got the full suite with mine...

Only certain systems will include MS Office now. I guess (as it was explained to me) other word-processing companies files a suit to stop Office from automatically being installed on all PCs like they were claiming MS was forming a monopoly. As a result, a lot of PCs + laptops are only including trial versions and 'allowing' the competition too get into the line-up for us choosing which one we want to purchase.
