ARRGG...more memory problems...

I install EVERYTHING to My Storage, yet I am low on memory AGAIN. I've already redirected the Opera cache. I do have a lot of stuff installed, but it should all be on My Storage.

Is there any way to see WHERE a program is installed at? In the Remove Programs screen it doesn't really tell you where it is located.

Thanks!

Re: ARRGG...more memory problems...

You can always use File Explorer and check to see where it's installed.

My Device > Program Files
My Storage > Program Files

Just check those two folders and you'll see what programs folders are installed to those locations. Well, at least I think it's that simple lol

I have noticed a drop in device memory as well. I attribute some of the memory loss to the fact that even though you are adding your programs to the storage it is creating a duplicate execution file on the device (or something to that effect) so it can start up.

Note: I will edti this later when I can look up more info.

Re: ARRGG...more memory problems...

download memmaid trial an somewhere in that program (forget right now) shows you what programs are installed and how big they are.
it also lets you delete verizon programs you may not use for more memory.

+1 for memmaid. my PIE cache is the culprit on mine. i clean with memmaid every night and it finds me at least 5 MB.

Also, just to throw it out there, not all programs store to the memory card, even though you tell them to.

If the cab file has been hard coded to your phone memory, that's where it will end up.

Re: ARRGG...more memory problems...

I will add a big +1 to a memmaid-type app, but another thing I have noticed is a lot of the folders in the device's program folder are pre-installed apps (VVM, Podcasts, vSmartPrime....) so if you don't use them I guess you could delete the folders to get a little memory back.

Re: ARRGG...more memory problems...

I have memmaid and run it often, to keep things clean.

I haven't seen anything in it that would tell me where things are installed though. Am I just overlooking it?

I do have SPB Mobile Shell (part of it installed directly to device memory I think) as well as Pocket Plus (which I think requires it to be installed to device memory because it is a Today plugin). Other than that, I don't think I've installed anything to device memory.

Can I just delete all the crap Verizon programs that are on there that I never use? Will that mess anything up?

Also, I saw someone mention a tweak to move sms, mms, and email from device memory to a storage card. Anybody tried that?

Re: ARRGG...more memory problems...

Yes, you can delete all that VZW stuff in the program folder. I am not sure how much it will save, but it should clear-up some.

I am thinking of looking into that fix myself (SMS, MMS) I haven't yet, but it looks interesting.

I have PocketPlus and mobile shell and only mobile shell has to be installed on the device memory....I disabled the today plugin for Pocketplus and enabled Mobile Shell then I added pocketplus as one of mobile shells tabs...

I don't know if that will save you much device memory but u should try it...
