I do use wireless sync and just checked the sync's main screen and believe you can set the parameters of "when to sync" so that it will not try to automatically look to sync every two hours (12 times per day). The other option I noted you may want to try is to go to the System tab under Settings and select Remove Programs. If you see the program Sync Client present, remove it.
