New 16gb MicroSD Card

Just curious. I have a new 16gb sandisk card.. the omnia sees 14.6gb. Is their a format card option on the Omnia? I am not seeing it.

Manufacturer conversion:

16gb=16000mb

Actual conversion:

16000/1024mb= 15.6gb.

So you either made a typo in your post or you have 1gb taken. You can format the card under the hard reset options. Settings, System, Hard Reset, second tab.

no it says 0.07MB in use and 14661.31MB Free. I just put in the Omnia and fired it up. So nothing has been put on it. If I do a hard reset will I lose everything ?

Ok.. I did the format of storage card in the hard reset menu. Now it says this:

0.01MB Used 15185.55 Free

I wonder if this correct... trust me I am not complaining just curious.

Thats probably correct.

Best case, perfect world scenario, you get 15.6gb.

In the real world, there are manufacturing flaws, and always some unuseable space.

So that sounds right. It can and does vary from brand to brand.

Is there some reason that only up to an 8gb card is recomended for the omnia?

on my mogul my 16gb only shows 14.83GB... It is nomal... as stated by Adrynalyne it is the way they state the size. the other part that is missing is the file system takes up some of the space.

16gb cards were not out at the time of spec release.
