How to replace a system file?????

Alright... I guess I'm going to have to have someone hold my hand on this:

I'm trying to replace the alarm2.wav and Notify.wav in the windows directory with files of the same name.

Problem:

Using my laptop, I can't get to the "windows" directory on my Omnia. It seems invisible and I can't figure out how to make the laptop "see" the directory.

Using my Omnia, I don't seem to be able to delete the .wav files from the "windows" directory, nor can I paste the new files directly into the folder and overwrite the current files.

Anyone care to help a very tired newb out? Damned phone woke me up last night when it was done charging so I got a total of 4 hours of sleep. I HAVE to get these files replaced!!!

ur going to need a registry editor with a file explorer, I use resco explorer, its not free but it works flawlessly...the windows explorer wont let u replace those files...

there are a couple of free registry editors out there....
